2023-2024 Fundraising activities
At SMIS, we believe in the power of community and the spirit of giving back, which is why we are thrilled to announce our month-long Gift-Giving and Gratitude Event. This special initiative is designed to bring our community together for a meaningful cause—supporting the in-need residents of our Barangay Tandang Sora. These in-need residents are vetted by the Barangay officials.
We invite all parents and members of the Markian community to join forces with our Student Council in this compassionate endeavor. Our fundraising activities are centered around a vibrant and energetic "Zumba for a Cause and Raffle Draw" event. Participants will have the opportunity to purchase tickets, with all proceeds directly benefiting the in-need residents of Barangay Tandang Sora. This event not only promises a fun and healthy experience but also serves as a powerful platform to make a difference in the lives of the people in need.
In addition to financial contributions, we are also encouraging in-kind donations. Non-cash gifts are equally valuable in supporting the day-to-day needs of our community. These contributions could include educational materials, clothing, and other essential items that can make a tangible difference in their lives.
Join us in this heartfelt campaign to spread joy, offer support, and make a lasting impact on the lives of those in need. Together, as a community, we can demonstrate our collective gratitude and commitment to those in need. Let's make this event a testament to the generosity and spirit of the Markian family.

2. Donation Drive
The donation drive is a school-wide effort to collect essential items and financial contributions that will directly benefit the residents of Barangay Tandang Sora. We focus on gathering non-perishable food items, clothing, educational materials, and monetary donations, ensuring that the aid we provide is both meaningful and impactful. This initiative not only supports the immediate needs of the community but also fosters a sense of solidarity and compassion among our students and the broader school community.
Role of the Student Council
The Student Council, representing the student body of St. Mark Integrated School, plays a pivotal role in this donation drive. They are responsible for organizing, promoting, and facilitating the collection of donations, demonstrating leadership and dedication to the cause. The act of turning over the donations to the community, performed by the Student Council, symbolizes the unity and commitment of our entire school community to supporting those in need. This moment of giving not only highlights the values of empathy and service but also strengthens the bond between our school and Barangay Tandang Sora, fostering a sense of community and mutual support.
The HOME and SCHOOL continues...
Developing Empathy and Compassion
Participation in these events serves as a practical lesson in empathy and compassion. By directly contributing to the welfare of those in need within our community and beyond, students experience firsthand the impact of their actions on the lives of others. This real-world application of compassion aligns with our school's core values, teaching students to look beyond their own needs and consider the broader implications of their actions on society.
Fostering Social Responsibility
Through active involvement in our fundraising events, students gradually embed a deep sense of social responsibility. They learn that their contributions, whether big or small, can make a significant difference in the world. This awareness cultivates a sense of duty towards the betterment of the community, the country, and even the globe, reinforcing the idea that everyone has a part to play in creating a more equitable and just society.
Promoting Physical Health and Wellness
The Zumba for a Cause event, in particular, emphasizes the importance of physical health and wellness. By engaging in this energetic and fun exercise, students not only benefit physically but also understand the role of physical activity in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This lesson in self-care is crucial for developing a balanced approach to personal health and well-being.
Enhancing Emotional Intelligence
Participation in these events also plays a vital role in enhancing emotional intelligence. As students engage with diverse groups of people, including those from less fortunate backgrounds, they develop greater emotional awareness, empathy, and interpersonal skills. These skills are essential for personal and professional success, as they help individuals navigate social interactions more effectively.
Building Integrity and Ethical Awareness
Our fundraising events are grounded in the principles of integrity and ethical awareness. Students learn the value of honesty, fairness, and ethical behavior as they organize and participate in these events. This education in integrity prepares them for future challenges and decisions, ensuring they uphold these values in all aspects of their lives.
Contributing to Holistic Development
St. Mark Integrated School is committed to the holistic development of its students—physically, intellectually, and emotionally. Our annual fundraising activities are a testament to this commitment, providing a platform for students to grow in multiple dimensions. Through these events, we aim to hone individuals who are not only academically proficient but also physically healthy, emotionally intelligent, and socially responsible.
In conclusion, our fundraising events are much more than just activities; they are a fundamental part of our curriculum designed to mold our students into compassionate, empathetic, and responsible citizens. By participating, students not only contribute to a worthy cause but also embark on a journey of personal growth, aligned with the core values of compassion and integrity that St. Mark Integrated School holds dear.
