SMIS Flexible Education

Flexible education refers to the ability of students and parents to customize one's pace, place, and modalities of learning.

Parents may choose the modality/is depending on their work schedule or their children’s needs.

Modular is self-paced learning, adult supervision varies depending on learners’ needs and level.

Modular is a combination of the use of modules or books, teachers’ supplementary materials (video, articles, etc.), and teachers’ feedback (online-synchronous or asynchronous).

1.1 Modular for students with strong internet connection
happens if the student answers the given module through the online or printed form.

1.2. Modular for students with limited internet connection
happens when students or parents print all modules when the internet is available, answer at home, and submit the finished book/module online (if available) or at school at the end of the Quarter, for teacher feedback.

1.3 Modular for students with no internet connection
happens when students or parents are provided with printed content and tasks they need to accomplish within a time frame. Students will solely use printed modules or books. Interaction between students and teachers does not take place in real-time.

Five (5) times online classes per week.
2.1. Online-synchronous (OPTIONAL)

happens in real-time, usually via video conferencing (Google Meet). Teachers will give immediate feedback to the students. Online classes are five times a week.

2.2. Online-asynchronous (OPTIONAL)

happens online but without real-time feedback. The students answer activities online and submit their weekly tasks via learning management systems. In asynchronous, the students can learn at their own pace but still follow the teacher's instructions. They can consult their teachers online through email.

Five (5) times f2f classes per week.
Face-to-face (OPTIONAL) will be implemented for S.Y. 2025 to 2026. This modality is available for the SCHOOL Program only.

SMIS offers separate Online and Onsite Classes

Through a lot of research and simulations, the school has found that having simultaneous online and in-person classes can save time and school resources, but it doesn't help students learn well.

In SMIS, teachers will focus on one class at a time, whether that class is online or in person. This way, all students will get lessons and activities that are relevant to them.

Choose how you implement HOMEschooling

Structured Curriculum

Guided Learning Path: For families preferring a more structured approach, this program follows a set curriculum that covers all core subjects. It's designed to provide a comprehensive and balanced education.

Expert Support: Our educators offer regular support and assistance, ensuring that students progress effectively through the curriculum.

All SMIS programs feature this. We will provide all learning materials, quizzes, assignments, and exams. In this curriculum, the student only bases their learning on the developmentally appropriate school prescribed curriculum.

Open Curriculum

Tailor-Made Education: The Open Curriculum Program is ideal for families seeking the flexibility to design their own course of study. This program allows parents and students to choose their learning materials and subjects, encouraging a highly personalized educational experience.

Resource Support: While offering freedom, we also provide resources and guidance to ensure that the learning objectives are met and align with educational standards.

Eclectic Curriculum (Combination of Open and Structured Curriculum)

Tailored Education: Ideal for families who desire a more customized education but appreciate the structure and reassurance of a proven curriculum.

Engaging Learning Experience: By incorporating student interests and passions, learning becomes more engaging and meaningful.

Skill Development: Equips students with a diverse skill set, balancing academic proficiency with creativity and critical thinking.

Parents can modify or supplement their children's learning with the school-prescribed curriculum.

Why choose HOME?

SMIS HOMEschooling allows parents to customize their child's learning. The school will send weekly learning packets online, so parents and guardians can help their kids with schoolwork anytime and from anywhere. Grades 4 to 10 students can study independently with our 24/7 teacher assistance.

SMIS always encourages our HOME learners to attend online activities and events. HOME learners can also show their talents virtually. All their outputs in our events, such as Buwan ng Wika, English Month, etc., are uploaded to our Facebook page.

Why choose HOME plus?

In addition to the flexibility and features of the HOME program, learners in HOME plus can join online classes five times a week.

Our online classes are not parallel or simultaneous to our onsite classes. We have a set time for purely online classes so that teachers can tailor instruction and activities to the needs of our HOME-plus learners.
Picture

Why choose SCHOOL instead of other pure face-to-face programs?

SCHOOL learners can choose at least one learning mode per school day: onsite/face-to-face classes, online classes, or modular.

In case of emergencies at home, in the community, or country, Markians, parents, and the school admin can shift to online learning, ensuring the safety of SCHOOL learners and continuity of education.

Most parents are busy; sometimes, students cannot go to school because of unforeseen circumstances; our SCHOOL program ensures that students' interaction occurs, both onsite and online, five times a week.
